welcome to WEBIGN!

I hate writing lengthy introductions and so I think I'll spend just a couple of minutes, trying to describe to you what the webIGN site is for.

All right, if you are completely new to web design, you should start with "DESIGN'R US" section, which will teach you basics of web design. Currently, the section only has three lessons that will take you less than an hour to complete, but I am working on additional lessons.

Next, if you want more information, you can access the Resources (aka Links) section. It is a very good and very big (more than 100 links) section. Most links and sections have comments, so you know where to go. You will get a lot of information simply by reading through the section. But if you are looking for something in particular, simply search the page (Edit -> Find) for a particular topic.

If you are an intermediate or a beginner designer, you will find our Tips and Tricks section very useful. Even if you have no particular question, reading the tips is very useful to improve your knowledge.

All right. What else? Well, we have special sections for JavaScript, CGI, Photoshop and Web promotion. If you are particularly interested in any of these topics, go ahead. Apart from links to other sites, there are original articles and sometimes tutorials on the topic.

If you are a seasoned designer, you might find our ProfDesign section useful. Somewhat more advanced, so not for faint-hearted. Also included is a style-guide, that is not extremely advanced, but I just had to put it somewhere.

And if you are on tight budget, you might want to see our software section, which reviews many shareware and freeware programs for web designers. The softreview section also offers you a free direct download of doc2html -- a macro that lets you convert an MS Word document into an HTML file with a press of a button.

Newsroom is a dead-end page, that is, just read it if you really have time to kill. I am in no position to follow the news seriously, but if you are a beginner you might find the "news archive" useful. Even if only to brag about to your friends. Oh, there is a valuable-ish piece of information, namely an article on the future of the web.

Finally, if you really have nothing to do and learning brings you a headache, just go to @alt page and read and sense some stupid, slightly intelligent phrazes, words and letters. Oh, and also some proze.

Couple of words on navigation. The red arrows indicate a link. Just click the arrow and it will take you somewhere, based on description that follows the link. Sub-sections usually have a navigation bar, just click the link you want to follow (all sections have "back" buttons). For older sub-sections (with "torn-edge" background) you can click on the "webIGN menu" image to return to the main page. Basically, that is it. If you have any problems, just e-mail me.

This is it. Now that you know where to go, I advise you to go there! Yeah!
